At Peniel First Ltd, our journey began with a deep passion for water — and that passion has now grown into an exciting new venture. We are proud to introduce our latest service: water-based skills and experiences on the scenic River Medway.
Led by our experienced team, including Keith and our Home Manager — both certified with the RYA Powerboat qualification and holders of Marine Radio Licences — we offer a safe, engaging, and professionally run environment for learning and exploration on the water.
The River Medway runs through Strood, Rochester, Chatham, Gillingham, and Rainham, with the Hoo Peninsula connecting it to the Thames Estuary. This stretch of water is rich in history and wildlife, making it a popular location for leisure boating, water sports, and sightseeing activities.
Several historic defences are visible from the river, reflecting the area's naval significance. Notable sites include Upnor Castle, commissioned by Queen Elizabeth I to protect the Chatham dockyards, and Fort Amherst, built in 1756 to defend against landward attacks — a role it continued to play through to the end of World War II.
The River Medway and its diverse ecosystem offer an ideal wetland habitat for thousands of breeding and migratory birds. Due to their ecological importance, the estuary marshes are protected under both national and international conservation designations.
