Te Papa, our place - the name of the national museum in Wellington, New Zealand.
The name Te Papa, meaning “the container of treasures,” reminds us that people, culture, and knowledge are taonga—precious gifts to be honoured and protected.
At Te Papa, we put people and purpose first, ensuring every interaction reflects integrity, care, and cultural respect. We believe what we do should uplift and empower, just as a treasure-house preserves what is valuable for future generations.
Te Papa — Honouring People. Protecting Purpose. Celebrating Value.
Our home is called Te Papa and can have up to two young people living there.
Te Papa comes from New Zealand and is a Māori word and means Our Place. We hope young people do come to see Te Papa as their place, as they grow in independence.
Our purpose:
To provide a step-down for young people aged 16 upward from a children’s home
environment, providing the necessary support to enable them to take their first steps to independence.
Our aims:
To provide and cultivate a secure and nurturing haven for young people, fostering
empowerment, independence, and autonomy while honing their core skills and
facilitating seamless progression towards complete self-sufficiency in independent
living.
We are registered with Ofsted and our URN is 2780134.
